ARTIST WRITER PRODUCER CURATOR FACILITATOR RESEARCHER EXPLORER

PRACTICE

Moving fluidly between different mediums and processes, my multi-disciplinary practice rests in the belief that everything is connected. Places of ritual significance, myth and folklore are key areas of interest, alongside the dynamic and generative relationships that exist between our bodies and the places we move through. I often use walking to lift the lid on the everyday, uncovering new ideas and materials. When I’m out on the moor near my home, I think I hear echoes of conversations spanning thousands of years...

My work often references human agency, transformation, and tensions between opposing forces. To these themes, I weave in references to the political and the speculative, imagined pasts and possible futures. I am also a collector of lost and discarded ephemera, curious relics of human endeavour and frequently overlooked natural wonders. I enjoy investigating the physical and conceptual properties of these accumulations, and exploring their potential either to inform or become artefacts.

BIO

I grew up in London and relocated to North Cornwall in 2001. With a BA (Hons) in English & Philosophy and a PGCE, I followed a career in the Adult and Further Education sector. In 2016, I went back to university gaining a First Class degree in Painting, Drawing and Printmaking, followed by an MA in Fine Art with Distinction from Arts University Plymouth.

I am one third of artist trio Room to Manoeuvre; a member of the Sapphire Blue Collective, and a Co-Director of CAMP, the member-led support and professional development network for artists and arts workers across Devon and Cornwall. I also work freelance in arts based research; event production; DIY curation; art writing and writing for performance. I have exhibited in galleries and other contexts in London and the South West (UK).
